The Club was originally formed in 1965 when the Rotary Club of Rochester funded the building of a clubhouse to provide somewhere for elderly men from Rochester and surrounding areas to meet.
As well as a couple of snooker tables, the original members would enjoy playing cards, dominoes and darts.
Over time, snooker has become the dominant activity, with the number of tables increased to 4, though other indoor games are all still available.
Members must be aged 60 and over and live in or have association with the Medway Towns and surrounding areas.
Members will usually follow the custom of winner stays on and invite anyone waiting to play the next game. At busier time though, we try to ensure everyone gets a fair share of table time.
This encourages playing a range of opponents and in turn, promotes friendship and fellowship between members.
Members are required to pay a modest annual membership subscription and a fee for each frame of snooker played. This covers the day to day running costs. To cover major maintenance and improvement projects, the Club will normally apply for grants or seek donations.
The Club does not have any employees so everything is done by members who volunteer their free time. An elected committee manage the running of the club but all members are expected to help out.
Normal opening is Monday to Friday between 9am to 4pm though the times each day will vary to suit demand and the availability of keyholders.
Our recently refurbished clubhouse includes 4 full-sized snooker tables. We have a kitchen where members can make tea or coffee.
